#1 – Georgia Bulldogs

The Bulldogs not only have the best group of linebackers in the SEC they also have the best in the nation.  The unit has incredible athleticism and versatility.  Leonard Floyd and Lorenzo Carter are freak athletes off the edge.  Jordan Jenkins is a stalwart who doesn't get enough recognition.  Up the middle true freshmen Natrez Patrick and junior Tim Kimbrough are thumpers in the run game while true freshmen Roquan Smith and Reggie Carter are sideline-to-sideline players.  Add to that mix the likes of Davin Bellamy, Chuks Amaechi and Jake Ganus and the Bulldogs are absolutely loaded.

#2 – Missouri Tigers

Mizzou returns tackling machines Kentrell Brothers and Michael Scherer who are sideline-to-sideline playmakers.  Both had over 100 tackles last season and always seem to be in the right place at the right time.  Add in Donavin Newsom and Eric Beisel and you have four very good linebackers.

#3 – Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama's linebacker corps is oozing with talent.  Ryan Anderson, Reggie Ragland and Denzel Devall have all proved their worth.  If Reuben Foster can finally interpret the playbook he has the potential to be the best middle linebacker in the SEC.  You also have to watch out for Dillion Lee, Dion Hamilton and Dillon Lee.  This group would be ahead of Missouri if they were better in space.

#4 – Auburn Tigers

Auburn's defense got a huge boost when Kris Frost and Cassanova McKinzy both decided to return for their senior seasons.  They are proven commodities and backup Tre Williams maybe the most physically gifted of the bunch.  This group is dependable and talented.

#5 – LSU Tigers

As usual the LLSU has a freakishly athletic group of linebackers.  Kendell Beckwith may be the best middle linebacker in the SEC and is surrounded by a bunch of guys that run like deer.  There is a lot of competition with the likes of Deion Jones, Lamar Louis, Donnie Alexander and Clifton Garrett.  Watch Garrett closely as he could be a breakout player this season.
